Police arrested a young man suspected of shooting a teenage boy Sunday morning on Seventh Street between Euclid and Grand avenues near Belmont Heights at around 1:21 a.m.
Police said “an altercation” between the man and the teen escalated into the suspect shooting the victim. The 16-year-old victim arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body, according to police.
Saeed Langdon, a 20-year-old Carson resident, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a firearm on a person, police said. Langdon is being held on $1 million bail, police said.

LONG BEACH (CNS) - A 40-year-old Lakewood woman died after the man driving the car she was in allegedly fled the scene of a collision today, then crashed into several things before the vehicle burst into flames.
Long Beach police say that around 10:45 a.m., a 51-year-old Los Angeles was man at the wheel of a 1994 Buick Le Sabre and crashed, sped away and in the area near 10th Street and Long Beach Boulevard, he struck a parked 2008 Honda Accord, a street sign, a commercial gas line and a tree, then the car caught fire.

The officers were working extra shifts at the popular tourist area along the Long Beach coastline when a drive-by shooting sparked panic and sent a critically wounded man running into a nearby Hooters restaurant on Saturday evening.
Luna said the two officers were close enough to the gunfire that they arrived to give medical aid within a minute.
“They saved this man’s life,” Luna said. “As a matter of fact, in the hospital, his family was praising the officers’ quick actions for saving their life. And I can’t thank them enough.”
