NISKAYUNA The Niskayuna Board of Education is facing criticism for what some say is a lack of transparency in its search for a new superintendent.
The school board has called a special meeting for Thursday, July 22, to discuss the search process and the agenda includes an executive session, which officials say is justified by the need to discuss personnel issues. ....

NISKYAUNA – After six years and less than a month after the school board extended his contract, Cosimo Tangorra announced Tuesday that he’s stepping down as Niskayuna superintendent to lead the New Hartford Central School District in Oneida County.
Niskayuna School Board member Howard Schlossberg said after Tuesday night’s Board of Education meeting that he was surprised by the move.
He said Tangorra read a letter to the panel saying he “appreciated the opportunity to work in Niskayuna” and “praised his team members.”
“I’ll miss the guy, he is a great superintendent, I’m sorry to see him go,” added Schlossberg. ....
