The recently signed international trade agreement between the US, Mexico, and Canada included funding to help address raw sewage spilling into San Diego’s waters from Mexico.
President Trump signed the new US Mexico Canada Agreement, called USMCA, on January 29, after nearly a year of negotiations between the three countries. The USMCA replaces NAFTA, passed in 1992, as the binding trade agreement between the three countries of North America.
Among the many international issues addressed in the agreement were environmental problems like the Mexican sewage flow across the border. For years, Mexico has allowed raw sewage to flow into the Tijuana River Valley along the border, and that sewage makes its way into the ocean in Imperial Beach. ....

The Shore Hotel Penalized For $1 Million

SANTA MONICA On Wednesday, December 16, the owners of the Santa Monica beach front hotel, the Shore Hotel agreed to pay $1 million in penalties and restitution to Los Angeles County. Prosecutors stated the hotel was built without the proper permits.
Part of the finale judgment was, the Shore Hotel has agreed to offer a limited amount of rooms at discounted prices the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
“The civil complaint alleged that developer Sunshine Enterprises violated state law by falsely representing to the California Coastal Commission that the hotel would provide some affordable lodging to replace two older, less expensive motels on the site,” said the LADA in a press release. ....
