A course on disaster management will be taught as a compulsory subject during the first year at colleges in Odisha, the state s Higher Education minister Arun Sahoo said. The move comes after the Odisha government had decided on May 29 to include disaster and pandemic management in high school and college curricula. Odisha State Higher Education Council has prepared a new course Environmental Studies and Disaster Management for +3 (Plus III) 1st year arts, science and commerce students from this year as (a) compulsory subject, the higher education minister tweeted on Friday. Sahoo said the course was prepared in accordance with the cabinet decision on May 29 and direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. ....
Karnataka to teach professional courses in Kannada from next academic year ANI | Updated: Jul 19, 2021 04:16 IST Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 19 (ANI): All the professional courses including engineering will be taught in Kannada across the state starting from the next academic year, said Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwatha Narayana, who is also the state minister for higher education, on Sunday. The government has initiated all the respective translation works of the curriculum. Speaking at a webinar organised by All Languages Faculty Association of Karnataka University on the topic New Education Policy- Study of Indian Languages , he said, Regional language (mother tongue) will be further strengthened after the implementation of National Education Policy and let there be no apprehensions in this regard. ....

Addressing the media, Narayana announced, the practical exams for odd semesters (01-03-05) will be held from July 26-28 and theory exams for the leftover subjects of 01, 03, 05, and other semesters will be held from Aug 02- Aug 21. The practical exams for even semesters (02-04-06) are scheduled to be conducted from November 2 to November 12 and theory exams for the same semesters will be conducted from November 17 to December 12. The exams of degree courses for odd semesters (which has been completely kept pending in Gulbarga, Karanata & Bengaluru universities and a few subjects leftover in some other universities) is scheduled to be completed by August 15, and for even semesters in the month of October, for which the dates will be notified shortly, he informed. ....
