Eastern Shore to recieve 80,000 to fight overdoses

SALISBURY, MD- A 80,000 dollar grant is making its way to two counties here on the eastern shore to help with drug overdoses.
It’s part of a 5.5 million dollar program from the Governor’s office, as part of Maryland’s Stop Overdose Strategy.
United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore in Wicomico County and Worcester County Public Schools will be receiving the funding- which advocates for the bill believe will give young people with knowledge and resources to prevent and treat addiction. ....

Matt Beuschlein: How have the first few months been as the executive director of the OOCC?
Robin Rickard: “Now that the COVID numbers are going down, we want to take on a more aggressive role. Last week we were with the lieutenant governor in Baltimore County here in Maryland and we launched the Maryland SOS which stands for Stop Overdose Strategy.
We never stopped fighting the opioid crisis even during the pandemic, but now that we are healing from COVID, the state of Maryland is going to take an even more aggressive approach in combating the opioid crisis. We are excited to launch Maryland SOS. Together with our state, local, and community partners, we are going to keep fighting this fight.” ....
