Industry bringing 79 new jobs to Hopkinsville

A new industry is locating in Hopkinsville and bringing 79 new jobs. It’s an expansion of their existing operations in Washington State, allowing the company to be closer to their locations in Morganfield and Henderson, Kentucky. Officials say they will also relocate several corporate positions to the new location in Hopkinsville. EZ-ACCESS, a division of Homecare Products, Inc., manufactures ramps and lifts for wheelchairs and accessibility solutions for individuals with physical limitations. Judge-Executive Steve Tribble and Mayor Wendell Lynch say they’re excited about EZ-ACCESS choosing Hopkinsville and will be working with them to be sure they’re successful in Christian County.

Christian Fiscal Court approve first reading of 2021-22 budget

The Christian County Fiscal Court met Tuesday morning for a regular meeting to vote on the first reading of the Fiscal Year 2021-22 Budget as well as approve a Fiscal Year 2020-21 budget amendment and a rural and secondary road fund request from the state to resurface several county roads. Judge-Executive Steve Tribble presented the budget to the court and read several highlights for the next fiscal year’s funding allocations, including increases to several funds, largely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tribble shared that the Fiscal Year 2021-22 increased by roughly $13.2 million compared to the current year’s budget. The total overall budget for the next fiscal year is proposed to be at $42,351,221.

Christian Fiscal Court meets in person for the first time this year

Christian County Fiscal Court met in person Tuesday morning for the first time since the county was considered to be in the COVID-19 positivity red zone. The court met with members socially distanced from each other, wearing masks and with a limit of 50 people allowed inside in its chambers as magistrates considered several items on the court’s agenda. The first item of official business the court considered was the purchase of a parcel of land located behind the Christian County Sheriff’s Public Safety Building. Christian County Attorney John Soyars explained where the property was and the purpose of purchasing it.
