President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the European Union (EU) has been of help to Nigeria in diverse ways, including humanitarian and trade relations.
The President spoke Tuesday at State House, Abuja, while receiving in a farewell audience, the Ambassador/ Head of the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, His Excellency Ketil Karlsen.
He appreciated the fact that the EU remains the largest trading partner with Nigeria, while members of the Union equally remain the largest investors.
President Buhari thanked the outgoing Ambassador for facilitating the visits of French and German leaders during his tour of duty, noting that it was during Prime Minister Angela Merkel’s visit that the door to relationship with Siemens of Germany on power was opened. ....

BREAKING: Osun govt shuts central mosque over inability to install new Imam

The Osun State Government has announced that it is shutting down indefinitely the Inisa Town Central Mosque in Odo-Otin Local Government Council Area.
The decision to shut down the mosque follows the inability of the Muslim community of the town to peacefully install a new Imam for the mosque.
This decision, which was made known in a public service announcement signed by Prince Abdullah Adeyanju Binuyo, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor and made available to DAILY POST Tuesday in Osogbo also directed that any central congregation at the mosque for Eid prayers has also been banned. ....

Ikpeazu orders extension of curfew to Umunneochi, Bende LGAs

The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has extended the existing curfew imposed on Aba, Umuahia, Ohafia and Arochukwu to two more local governments, including Umunneochi and Bende.
The Governor gave the directive in a statement issued by the Secretary to Abia State Government, Barr Chris Ezem, on Tuesday.
According to the statement, only those on essential duties would be allowed to move about during the curfew period.
“Sequel to the subsisting curfew imposed by Abia State Government between the hours of 8pm-6am in Aba, Umuahia, Ohafia and Arochukwu, the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has directed the extension of the curfew regime to Umunneochi and Bende LGAs of the State. ....

The Southwest states Executive Chairmen of Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) has stated its readiness to collaborate with security agencies in their respective states, so that schools can be protected from hoodlums and teachers and pupils are kept safe from attacks.
The Dean and Executive Chairman, Oyo SUBEB, Dr.Nureni Aderemi Adeniran who disclosed this, recently during their meeting in Lagos, said it will also take the issue of perimeter fencing of its public schools seriously to protect its facilities from being vandalised.
