Chaffee Clerk Among Colorado County Clerks Under Threat - by Jan Wondra

Posted by Jan Wondra | Jul 9, 2021 Colorado County Clerks say they are tired of being threatened, they are tired of the lies about the 2020 election, they are tired of the service to their communities being questioned and they want it to stop. They have been verbally and  physically threatened, libeled in written documents and on private social media groups, challenged in court, and some have received death threats.  All because they are public servants doing their jobs. “It’s disgraceful. It’s a sad state of our time that these things are happening. We’re talking about elected officials who go to work every day making sure that people have the right to vote,” said Colorado County Clerk’s Association Executive Director Matt Crane about the growing attacks on county clerks.”The fact that they are dealing with death threats it’s a disgrace. Farm stand and animal barn possible for Land's Sake Farm in Weston

Beth Marshdoyle Special to the Crier My name is Beth Marshdoyle, and I am the president of the board of Land’s Sake Farm. I have lived here in Weston for 24 years and have felt so fortunate to live in a town that has a farming history and a community farm right in the heart of Weston. Our farm is open to all with our fresh produce, beautiful pick-your-own flowers, and educational programs that connect young people and adults to the land. What many Weston residents may not know is that we are a mission-driven nonprofit organization. We grow food, grow leaders and grow community.

Racine County Sheriff's Office allows facial hair as fundraisers

For the second year in a row, the Racine County Sheriff’s Office provided its staff a chance to grow some facial hair for a good cause. Starting in October, over 60 deputies and corrections officers gave a donation to the Women’s Resource Center in Racine in order to grow a beard, which is normally prohibited. The minimum to donate was $75, but some gave more. Earlier this month, the sheriff’s office provided the center a check for $4,700. Image: Racine County Sheriff’s Office “Our deputies, corrections officers and support staff wanted to do something special for the community again this year,” says Sheriff Christopher Schmaling. “I know that your needs are endless. The cause and the victims are real.”
