Levine: No kidding! Your government wants you to give up your cars

Print I’m not making this up. I’m not even stretching some idle comment. It is all clearly stated in plans and proposals by the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), the county and the city of San Diego. They are not subtle or shy about it. There is a concerted and coordinated effort by these agencies to punish the owners and users of personal cars and trucks as a means to force the public to use mass transit or bicycles instead of their motorized personal vehicles. Harvey Levine (Courtesy photo) You don’t have to take my word for it. You can and should read about it in the polished and graphic presentations of our governments’ future plans. Start with San Diego Forward: The 2021 Regional Plan. You can download this 62-page document from the SANDAG website (sandag.org). Follow this up with the video of the May 21 presentation of the 2021 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) that was given to the SANDAG Board of Directors. You might also tune into the recording

FedDev Ontario announces over $6.5 million in support for women in advanced manufacturing and digital technology

Published: December 16th, 2020 The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) today announced a three-year investment of over $6.5 million for the Hamilton Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA Hamilton) to address critical labour gaps in fields including digital technology and advanced manufacturing.  “We know that women have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic. In the Hamilton area, job losses due to COVID-19 were three times higher for women than men. We have worked hard to help women succeed since the COVID-19 outbreak began – thanks in part to investments by the WES Ecosystem Fund, which allowed us to create programs that helped women pivot their businesses to operate online. Now, this new $6.4 million investment will not only help women to advance in their careers and receive high-skills training, but it will also help even the playing field in high-tech industries where many women are often left behind,” Denise Christ
