TAMPA – Excel Hospitality Group LLC, doing business as Regency Park Assisted Living & Memorial Care, an assisted living facility in Eustis, Fla., will pay $39,000 and furnish other relief to settle a disability discrim­ination lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commis­sion (EEOC), the federal agency announced today.
According to EEOC’s suit, Regency Park offered a woman a position as a caregiver. While she was in the process of filling out paperwork, the woman mentioned that she was pregnant. Shortly after, Regency Park rescinded the offer and informed her that it decided to go with someone else for the caregiver position. ....

ALISO VIEJO, CA Soka University will become the second Point of Dispensing vaccination site in Orange County starting Saturday at 8 a.m., officials say. The University staff has trained for this emergency response for 20 years, officials say, and ready and up for the task.
After two days of closure at the Disneyland Point of Dispensing location due to extreme Santa Ana winds, those with rescheduled appointments are returning for their shots. As more of the vaccinated plan for the second round of vaccination, county officials know that more distribution sites are essential in meeting the needs of Orange County s 3.2 million residents. ....

Southern California Hospitals Postpone Elective Surgeries During COVID-19 Surge
Some Orange County hospitals have suspended elective surgeries as they struggle to keep pace with an ongoing pandemic that continues to push the boundaries of health care capacity.
Local health officials made the call to postpone nonessential procedures following a state health order that sought to more effectively prioritize patient care. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) directed health centers to categorize elective surgeries through a tier scale endorsed by the American College of Surgeons.
“The health order delays elective surgeries ‘and non-life-threatening’ surgeries but it does not affect surgeries involving serious medical conditions, like cancer removal or heart surgeries,” Adam Blackstone, spokesperson for the Hospital Association for Southern California, told The Epoch Times via email Jan. 11. ....
