INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Dr. Jerome Adams, former U.S. surgeon general and WISH-TV’s medical expert, started a national conversation this weekend when he said he and Dr. Anthony Fauci had been wrong last year when they initially advised against masks and that he worries federal health officials could be making the wrong move now, too, as cases grow in some places.
Adams spoke in an exclusive interview on Sunday with News 8’s Nina Criscuolo, where he talked about why now was the right time for him to speak up, how to talk to vaccinated people about putting the masks back on, and what he hopes to see from local health officials.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Downtown Indy Inc. is leading a fundraiser after the death of an owner and operator of a longtime downtown shoe business, with hopes to help the man’s family and keep the business running.

Tony and his brother, Mike Cento, took over Cento Shoes from their father, Paul, an Italian immigrant who opened the store in 1971 at 33 S. Meridian St., where it still stands. They sell and repair shoes and other leather goods.
UPDATE: Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett has released a statement about the FedEx mass shooting:
“This morning, Indianapolis residents are confronted with the horrific news of yet another mass shooting, an act of violence that senselessly claimed the lives of eight of our neighbors. As law enforcement works to learn more about this tragedy, our prayers are with the families of those whose lives were cut short.
Thank you to all of our city’s first responders for their tireless work overnight. Their quick response provided critical aid to those injured in the shooting and brought a measure of calm to an otherwise chaotic scene.”
