Top Aussie female sailor Curtis picked to join SailGP squad By BERNIE WILSONMay 7, 2021 GMT Nina Curtis has been picked to join the defending champion Australian team for the rest of SailGP’s second season as part of a developmental program to fast-track women into the global league. Curtis, who won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics and sailed with Team Brunel on the final five legs of the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race, beat out Lisa Darmanin in a training camp during the season-opening regatta in Bermuda two weeks ago. Curtis got the news from skipper Tom Slingsby during her mandatory 14-day quarantine in a Sydney hotel after returning from Bermuda. ....
Australian sailor Nina Curtis has been selected to join the Australian SailGP Team for the duration of season 2 of the global league, following a development and training camp at the Bermuda Grand Prix event. The program, launched last year, forms part of SailGP s Race for the Future purpose-driven agenda, working to create an end-to-end pathway to expand female participation in the sport and, ultimately, the league. After an application process and impressive interest from athletes across the country, Australia team helm Tom Slingsby selected Nina Curtis and Lisa Darmaninto join the Australian team - the reigning SailGP Champions - for the opening event of SailGP Season 2 in Bermuda. ....
