Election officials undergo Covid tests at a Tezpur facility on Saturday GUWAHATI: Election authorities in Assam on Saturday said a three-tier security apparatus has been arranged in 331 counting halls across the state that voted in three phases elections to ensure smooth conduct of the counting process. Assam chief electoral officer Nitin Khade said strong security measures have been taken to ensure smooth conduct of the counting process. The linkage between strong room and the counting hall will be maintained with strict security to avoid any untoward situation. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) at the well-ventilated counting venues will be sanitised before the commencement of the process. ....
