Employees of Nizam Deccan Sugar Limited in Bodhan start 180 km ‘Akali Poru Padayatra’ from Bodhan to Industries Minister KT Ram Rao’s residence on Monday.
Nizamabad: This is a bitter story of the eight-decade-old Nizam Sugar Factory also known as the Nizam Deccan Sugars Limited (NDSL). Once the second-largest sugar factory in Asia, the factory was shut in 2015 and its revival seems difficult now. The seventh Nizam of Hyderabad had started the factory in 1937 to save money on the imports of sugar. Families of several workers are now in serious financial hardship due to the factory’s closure, as they haven’t received their salaries since five years. ....

Armoor: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Working President & MP A. Revanth Reddy slammed BJP and TRS Governments for their anti-farmer policies and announced that the Congress party would wage a battle to get justice for farmers, especially turmeric and jowar farmers of Telangana.
Revanth Reddy offered to make all arrangements if the turmeric farmers wish to hold a protest in the national capital at Jantar Mantar or any other place to pressurise the BJP Govt for establishment of turmeric board.
He was addressing a massive public meeting at Armoor in Nizamabad district on Saturday. Senior leaders, including former minister & ex-Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, MLC T. Jeevan Reddy and other senior leaders also addressed the meeting. ....

BJP leaders have cheated turmeric farmers: Revanth

‘Turmeric board yet to be set up’
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Ram Madhav, Bandi Sanjay and Arvind Dharmapuri, were under fire from TPCC working president A. Revanth Reddy, who termed them ‘Liars from a Liars Party’ for ‘cheating’ turmeric farmers after making tall promises before the 2019 Parliament elections.
Mr. Reddy said that in the presence of Mr. Ram Madhav, Nizamabad MP Arvind signed the bond paper promising a turmeric board within five days if he was elected. “So, the responsibility lies with Mr. Ram Madhav as well as Bandi Sanjay whose Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency has a large number of turmeric farmers,” he said. ....
