LISD board meeting addresses waivers for missing school

During the LISD regular board meeting, the board trustees discussed a number of topics including a hybrid instruction during testing days, their missed school waiver as a result of the winter storm and other topics of interest.
According to the presentation regarding the hybrid instruction, students between kindergarten and eighth grade who are not scheduled to test during STAAR exam dates may be transferred to a remote learning day to reduce the number of individuals on campus.
The Texas Education Agency stated that the waiver applies for testing days including the STAAR, TELPAS online assessments, PSAT-8 and ACT Aspire. They said the dates would be limited to a maximum of five days per administration, but districts are expected to be flexible to utilize other methods to lessen the impact on students. ....
