A future home for the Teton County Fairgrounds could be up for debate as soon as January.
Town and county elected and appointed officials are ready to discuss whether thereâs a better location for the fairgrounds, whether the space could be better used for housing, and how to preserve Jackson Holeâs âWestern heritage.â
But with the conversation coming on the heels of planning for northern South Park, at least one official is worried that people wonât be ready for another major undertaking.
Still there could be some overlap between the wishes of housing-focused electeds and fair officials when it comes to the future of the fairgrounds.
The neighborhood planning process for northern South Park is paused and may be delayed as the Teton County Board of County Commissioners considers whether to give an advisory committee more opportunity to weigh in.
After a debate about slowing down a process that was intended to be âquickâ â about eight months, wrapping up around July â the five elected officials took a step Monday towards delaying the planning process by three or four weeks. It is already about a month behind schedule.
âLetâs be smart about this, letâs use the experts in our community,â Commissioner Greg Epstein said, after he and Commissioner Mark Barron lobbied for the change.
