Barbadian cyclists Jamol Eastmond and training partner Edwin Sutherland are seeking qualification to the ongoing Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Track Cycling Nations Cup and the 2021 Road World Championships in Belgium, September 19 to 26.
Both are keen to improve on their rewarding experience at the Pan American Track Cycling Championship in Peru where Eastmond copped the silver medal in the men’s scratch race and Sutherland finished fifth in the elimination race and competed in the Madison and the Points race.

As the internal and external inquest into the Barbados Tridents’ humbling loss to Bermuda in the Concacaf Gold Cup qualifying round continues, head coach Russell Latapy insists the side is focused on moving forward from the result and he remains committed to the development of the players and the sport in Barbados.
“I can safely say the way we do things and our organisation from the day I came in, to the way we are now is a lot better. I think the result of that is the emergence of a lot of young players coming through,” Latapy explained.

The time is right for Barbados’ footballers to truly write their names on history’s page and open a new chapter of regional success under coach Russell Latapy.
The Tridents are two wins away from a maiden appearance at the Concacaf Gold Cup and the historic significance of today’s game has not been lost on the squad.
Bermuda may have a slight edge with regards to previous encounters with the Bajans, but that experience will count for naught against a new-look Tridents side, which will once again be led by skipper Rashad Jules, who returns from injury.
