Barbados, Bermuda confident ahead of clash
Article by July 1, 2021
FORT LAUDERDALE – Barbados and Bermuda camps have expressed confidence heading into Friday night’s preliminary-round fixture, of taking a step closer to qualifying for a place in the CONCACAF Gold Cup – the Tridents for the first time and the Gombey Warriors for the second.
Both countries have strengthened their squads ahead of the game at the DRV PNK Stadium here with Bristol City striker Nahki Wells returning to national duty after more than a year’s absence to captain Bermuda, while Rashad Jules, the Barbados skipper, returns to action after sitting out a recent trip to the Dominican Republic with an injured ankle.

The time is right for Barbados’ footballers to truly write their names on history’s page and open a new chapter of regional success under coach Russell Latapy.
The Tridents are two wins away from a maiden appearance at the Concacaf Gold Cup and the historic significance of today’s game has not been lost on the squad.
Bermuda may have a slight edge with regards to previous encounters with the Bajans, but that experience will count for naught against a new-look Tridents side, which will once again be led by skipper Rashad Jules, who returns from injury.
