HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) Authorities say a criminal charge has been dropped against a 20-year-old Maple Grove man accused of throwing a young boy off a waterslide, noting it s unlikely the man will ever be found competent to stand trial.
Dakota County Attorney Kathryn Keena filed the motion last month to dismiss the charge of third-degree assault against Roman Alexander Adams, who has been diagnosed with what his attorney describes as “severe autism.
Adams was arrested in July of 2018 after witnesses said he picked up the 8-year-old victim and threw him off the top of a water slide at the Apple Valley Aquatic Center as they waited in line. The boy suffered a badly broken leg and other injuries in the 30-foot fall onto concrete. He did not suffer head or internal damage, KARE-TV reported. ....

Fully vaccinated residents will not have to wear masks in most settings


Evanston will no longer require fully vaccinated individuals to wear face coverings or practice social distancing in most indoor and outdoor settings, following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Illinois Department of Public Health, according to a Wednesday news release.
“Vaccines have been proven to be safe and highly effective at preventing severe illness and complications from COVID-19,” Ike Ogbo, director of health and human services, said in the release. “Relaxing face covering requirements for fully vaccinated individuals brings us one step closer to normal, but it’s important to remember that we are still in a pandemic.” ....
