Grand River Raceway is gearing up for their signature events, the Battle of Waterloo and Battle of the Belles. Industry Day is held annually at Grand River Raceway in celebration of the harness racing industry. The event takes place on the holiday Monday in August each year and boasts an incredible line up of racing action, including the aforementioned Battle of Waterloo and Battle of the Belles. With a post time of 12:30 p.m. (EDT), guests can expect an afternoon packed with racing entertainment. The 24th annual Battle Of Waterloo and 13th annual Battle Of The Belles will be contested for estimated purses of $240,000 and $160,000, respectively. Elimination dashes will be contested on Monday, July 26 starting at 6:30 p.m. (EDT). ....

Driver James MacDonald, trainer Nick Gallucci and owner-breeder George Millar teamed to win two of three Gold Series divisions for the two-year-old pacing fillies at Georgian Downs on Sunday (July 18). Their first victory came with Silver Label in the first $69,733 division. Starting from post 5, Silver Label left smartly and settled behind favourite I Love Ongait as that filly led the field of eight to a :27 quarter and :55.2 half. Heading for the third marker, MacDonald put Silver Label on the attack and she and I Love Ongait battled to a 1:25.2 three-quarters before Silver Label was able to pull away in the stretch and secure the 1:55.3 victory. I Love Ongait settled for second, three and three-quarter lengths behind the winner, and Darby Ogill completed the top three. ....
Professional, easy-going, strong, willing trainers Nick Gallucci and John Pentland called on similar adjectives Friday night to describe their two-year-old pacing colt Gold Series winners Betterhavemymoney and Stonebridge Helios. The pacers took very different trips around the Woodbine Mohawk Park oval to get to the winner’s circle, but they tripped the teletimer in identical 1:51.4 clockings and both looked impressive in the effort. Starting from Post 6 in the first $103,800 division, Betterhavemymoney and driver James MacDonald spent most of the mile in the outer lane, had to dodge a breaking Coligny Hanover in the final turn, and laid down a :26.3 last quarter to earn their victory. Kolby Two Step, who did much of the work on the front end, finished one length behind the favourites in second and Erinwood Yves also closed like a rocket to be third. ....
