The Secretary of State has reappointed Frances Akor and Nicola Phillips as Non-Executive Directors of UK Anti-Doping

Frances Akor is a Consultant Pharmacist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council’s Fitness to Practise Committee, who has worked in academia, consultancy, pharmaceutical industry and the NHS. Frances has an interest in the role of pharmacy and medicines in Sport. She was a member of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Pharmacy Clinical Services Group between 2009 and 2012. In addition, she was the Venue Medical Manager for Eton Dorney and Royal Holloway Rowing Village during the 2012 Games. Frances has a PhD in Pharmacy Practice and Policy which focused on the practical implementation of NHS policy using anticoagulation as the therapy area of focus, and has served on the board of UK Anti-Doping since 2017. ....

Don't Give Up on Online Learning – Roar News

Guidance published by the UK government for higher education encourages education providers to “undertake new risk assessments for the remainder of the term to evaluate whether it is appropriate to move to more learning online.”
Following this, King’s Vice President Professor Nicola Phillips advised that online teaching and assessment will continue until the end of term. Further information provided by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities explains that those who have been studying remotely in semester one will have their timetable for semester two scheduled on this basis. With these updates in mind, there is a real probability for online learning to become a permanent presence in students’ academic lives. ....

Shortly after its important decision on the governing law of arbitration agreements in
Enka Insaat Ve Sanayi AS v OOO Insurance Company Chubb [2020] UKSC 38 (as covered in our recent alert here), the U.K. Supreme Court has handed down another judgment long awaited by arbitration participants and practitioners – namely,
Halliburton Company v Chubb Bermuda Insurance Ltd [2020] UKSC 48, which is set to become the leading authority on arbitrators’ duties of impartiality and disclosure. 
The case concerned the situation in which there are multiple appointments of the same arbitrator in arbitrations involving the same subject matter and only one common party. The importance of the issues it raised was such that five arbitral institutions and associations were given permission to intervene (the LCIA, the ICC, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Grain and Feed Trade Association, and the London Maritime Arbitrators Association). ....
