Lyon County Planning and Zoning Administrator John Biren answered questions from Lyon County commissioners about a planned solar garden near Tracy.
MARSHALL Lyon County commissioners approved a conditional use permit for a new solar project near Tracy on Tuesday. But even with a permit, there could still be obstacles to the project being built. It comes down to whether the project gets an interconnection agreement for the electricity it will produce, said county planning and zoning administrator John Biren.
“It’s a very likely project, but it’s not a guarantee at this point,” he said. ....

ROSEMOUNT, MN The Church of St. Joseph, a Catholic church and private school community, will now be powered by solar energy, Novel Energy Solutions announced Tuesday.
3,528 solar panels will cover five acres on St. Joseph s campus and produce 1.25 million kilowatt hours of energy(enough to power 150 homes) per year, Novel Energy Solutions said.
The parish administrator for St. Joseph s, Randy Haney, estimated that the solar panels will save the church around $20,000 in electric costs per year, Novel Energy Solutions said.

The Redwood County Board met Tuesday morning, Jan. 5, in their first meeting of the new year. This precipitated some formality as Judge Rohland administered the oath of office to Commissioner-Elect Rick Wakefield and Commissioners Dave Forkrud and Bob Van Hee. Jim Salfer was elected Chairman for 2021 and Dennis Groebner was elected Vice-Chair.
The board approved the request of Anthony Sellner of the Highway Department to declare two International snowplow trucks as excess property and authorize their sale on MnBID. Sellner said the Highway Department has 14 snowplow trucks nine actively drive snowplow routes, three are backup, and two are excess property and should be sold. The trucks to be sold are a 2002 with 264,889 miles and a 2005 with 214,947 miles. ....
