By Rachel Conner-Hill echorachelc Chief Reporter (Tees Valley & North Yorkshire) A further 105 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the region MORE than 100 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the North-East and North Yorkshire today. The Government also said that, as of 9am on Saturday, there had been a further 2,206 lab-confirmed cases in the UK. It brings the total to 4,385,938. The Government said a further 35 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Saturday, bringing the UK total to 127,260. Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 151,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. ....
Just six new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across Northumberland over the last 24 hours. The low figure means that a total of 17,406 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the county since the pandemic began last March. The death toll in the latest daily figures released by NHS England also show nobody has died in relation to Covid in Northumbria Healthcare hospitals in the last 24 hours, meaning the death toll remains at 726. In Northumberland, just three wards currently feature five or more positive current cases that have been confirmed within the last seven day period, with none of the wards across the Tyne Valley appearing on the list. ....
