SCHOOLS should not be allowed to insist pupils wear uniforms from named suppliers, according to a former mayor. A past council probe into uniform costs across Stockton has urged schools and academies keep branded uniforms to a minimum. It also recommended they avoid the use of “specified suppliers” and steered clear of uniform requirements for different age groups. Talks have been held with Stockton Council officials and school leaders in the wake of the review.
