The Defense Information Systems Agency finished the initial version of its zero-trust reference architecture for cybersecurity, according to a May 13 press release. Zero trust is a cybersecurity paradigm that calls for a data-focused, rather than network and perimeter-based, approach and though the concept has been gaining steam in government, an executive order released May 12 specifically directs agencies to implement it. Then-DISA Director Vice Adm. Nancy Norton originally announced in July that DISA would release a zero-trust reference architecture for the Defense Department. ....
July 8, 1936-May 5, 2021 MARSHALL The Mass of Christian Burial for James Willis “Jim” Archbold, 84, of Marshall, will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. A ‘Walk-Through Visitation’ (masks and social distancing) with family and friends will be held on Monday from 5-7 p.m. with sharing of memories at 7 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Remembrance Center. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. Jim died on Wednesday, May 5 at home surrounded by his wife and adult kids. ....
The first five agencies are expected to move to DODNet by the end of fiscal 2021. Along the way, IT personnel at those agencies will become DISA employees as part of efforts to make DISA the single service provider for DOD’s administrative support agencies. Strengthening telework security In its refreshed three-year strategy, DISA stresses cyber defense, cloud and enterprise services. Initiatives also include expanding the availability of secure telework options such as the Cloud-Based Internet Isolation (CBII) program, which creates an air gap between DOD’s networks and internet browser activity to keep website vulnerabilities at bay, and an upgrade to the technical infrastructure for the Non-classified IP Router Network and the Secret IP Router Network. ....
