(WECT) - Nancy Joâs Homemade expands into Carolina Beach and opens a fourth location off South Lake Park Boulevard. The business has been a staple at the Raleigh Farmerâs Market for 25 years. Nancy Joâs Homemade also has locations in Downtown Clayton and Oak Island. It all started when Nancy Jo took a cake decorating course. âShe could always bake very, very, very good cakes, so she went to the community college and took a cake decorating course and then, of course, started birthday cakes and anniversary cakes and then it led to wedding cakes and parties,â said William Townsend, who manages the Carolina Beach location. âOne day she said she wanted to open a little deli and bakeshop so we went from there ....

Mar 12, 2021 Nancy Jo Erickson Carlile, 84, of Sanibel, passed away February 28, 2021, at Life Care of Estero, in Estero, FL. Born August 19, 1936 in Gothenburg, NE., she was the daughter of Daniel Cyrrus Erickson and Phoebe Elanor Stonebarger. Nancy concluded her story, the finer points of which she shared, as talented storytellers do, with enthusiasm and great detail into her ninth decade. She was born in Nebraska in 1936, one of five siblings four daughters and a son to parents whose families came as immigrants into a new state. Nancy Jo was raised in Omaha and her senior yearbook outlines an active year in a racially integrated school a year of pep squad, French club, and yearbook editor. For every one of those activities Nancy Jo had a story, or twelve, often told with a hoot and a laugh she had to lean back to set free. ....
Early kindergarten student duplicates ‘Clue’ costumes Gene Deason Special to the Bulletin The comedy whodunnit “Clue” at Brownwood’s Lyric Theatre has multiple characters, but if it’s ever adapted into a one-man show, Aaron Turner, age 6, is ready. After the Early school kindergarten student watched numerous rehearsals and performances of the stage play “Clue” at the Brownwood Lyric Theatre, he was inspired to create his own costumes for the show’s various characters 14 in all. Aaron’s father, Doug Turner, plays the role of the FBI Agent in the show that opened the Lyric’s 2021 season. “He designed them all himself,” the elder Turner said. “He found some of the clothes in his room, and then he went looking.” ....
