Frisco Town Council unanimously approved the appointment during its regular meeting Tuesday, July 13. O’Rourke also replaces Jeff Durbin, former town manager of Fraser in nearby Grand County, who became interim Frisco town manager in May. Durbin applied for the Frisco position in 2016 and again for the vacancy this year. Durbin said in an interview Wednesday, July 14, that he is now working on his transition plans to move on to his next adventure. ....

The Frisco Town Council approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 budget during a regular meeting April 27, and officials plan to funnel the extra funds toward hiring for unfilled positions, capital improvement projects and more. Finance Director Bonnie Moinet presented the recommended expenditures during the meeting, noting that she felt the town would still be left in a strong financial position at the end of the year despite the expanding bottom line. ....

Now, he’ll step into the role recently vacated by Nancy Kerry, who announced her resignation as town manager earlier this month with plans to move to Reno, Nevada, to spend more time with her family. Her departure leaves large shoes to fill. During the meeting Tuesday, business owners from throughout the town tuned in to thank Kerry for the work she’s done over the past year to keep the community afloat, and Town Council members took turns lauding her efforts since her arrival. ....

Kerry was named town manager in December 2018 and said she plans to stick around likely until late April or early May to ensure there is a smooth transition to an interim town manager and ultimately a replacement. In an interview with the Summit Daily News, Kerry said she loves her job, but the infrequency with which she was able to visit her family over the past year due to the pandemic has been difficult. After the sudden death of her sister-in-law, Chrissy, who she called a “bright light,” Kerry decided it was time to move closer to family. ....
