[email protected] CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS The Marshall County supervisors appointed Joel Phillips as the new Marshall County Sheriff and Jordan Gaffney as the new Marshall County Attorney during the regular Tuesday meeting. The appointments went into effect immediately. Both positions will be on the November 2022 general election ballot. The Marshall County Board of Supervisors was busy at the regular Tuesday meeting, even though the meeting was relatively short. First, they appointed Joel Phillips as the new Marshall County Sheriff, which took effect immediately. He will serve in the role until November 2022 and then will be up for election. “It was an interesting and good time we had going through the interviews,” Supervisor Bill Patten said. “Joel’s background and his work gives him an edge because he’s done this before. We’re excited to have Joel.” ....
Apr 13, 2021 The Marshall County Board of Supervisors have chosen Jordan Gaffney as the new county attorney – a decision made during the regular Tuesday meeting. The previous county attorney, Jennifer Miller, resigned April 1 after she was named district judge for District 2B by Gov. Kim Reynolds. Marshall County Auditor Nan Benson said two candidates submitted applications for the attorney’s position. Supervisor Bill Patten said it was a tight race between the candidates. “I think we learned a lot from the interviews because they had ideas we had not heard before,” he said. “I’m excited about going forward and seeing some of those ideas.” ....

Auditor Nan Benson said the supervisors will discuss the sheriff candidates at 10 a.m., followed by the attorney candidates at 10:30 a.m. It will be a closed session, she said. The supervisors interviewed three candidates for the sheriff on April 1, and one of them was acting Marshall County Sheriff Joel Phillips.
