With most shows on hold due to the pandemic, hereâs a look at seven of the best albums being released Feb. 5: Foo Fighters â Medicine at Midnight It s been quite the journey for the Foo Fighters from a completely solo mid-â90s project from ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl to one of the most popular rock bands in music. Theyâve gotten to the point on album number 10, Medicine at Midnight, to be able to do whatever the hell they want. This time around itâs just nine songs clocking in at a lean 37 minutes. From the celebratory opener âMaking a Fireâ to the McCartney-esque âChasing Birdsâ to the Queen-like guitar riffage of LP closer âLove Dies Young,â the record is like a trip down all the sonic highways â pun intended â that the now fully formed six-piece outfit ha ....
London singer-songwriter and poet Arlo Parks delves into her adolescence through the lens of sun-dappled indie pop, on debut Collapsed in Sunbeams. Self-described as “a series of vignettes and intimate portraits,” the album is inspired by Allen Ginsberg, Sylvia Plath, Jim Morrison and Fela Kuti – combining poetic lyricism with a shimmering guitar hooks and her halcyon vocals. It’s a heartrending debut effort from Parks, who is also bringing much needed representation to indie along the way, as well as a record that will be elevated further still when she plays it live, sometime in the hopefully not to distant future. ....
