Answer Man: Cane Creek landfill legal? How many Amazon vans out there?

Today’s batch of burning questions, my smart-aleck answers and the real deal:
Question: For the last 18-24 months, what appears to be a landfill has been growing exponentially right next to Cane Creek Road just up from Turgua Brewery. It is now 20-30 feet higher than the base. It is within 5-10 feet of Cane Creek Road and is very close to the creek itself. It seems to consist primarily of construction debris and fill dirt. Is such a use legal so close to a busy road and waterway, and, if so, have the necessary permits been filed? Is it periodically inspected? ....

With Asheville development, a desire to 'close the door behind you'?

When it comes to development, everybody has heard of the concept of NIMBYism Not In My Back Yard.
But the Asheville area also experiences another form of anti-development backlash, one fueled by folks who move here from other areas, sometimes into relatively new developments. And then they want development to stop.

To be clear, Coman, a Buncombe County native whose roots go back to Revolutionary War-era ancestors, believes all residents of an area have a right to voice concerns about potential development and the rules their communities operate under. That s a fundamental right that comes with being American. ....

Answer Man: Land above I-240? Mission scholarship still there?

Today’s batch of burning questions, my smart-aleck answers and the real deal:
Question: What is the reason for all the work being done on the slopes above the east side of I-240, across the freeway from Tunnel Road? A long answer is not required, just select: A Hotel. B Brewery. C Costco. D Golden Corral.
My answer: One day someone is going to build a ginormous Costco here with a hotel, brewpub and Golden Corral inside. And then I m going to retire, because my work will be complete.
Real answer: I really can t believe this reader left off option E  Apartments. ....
