When 26-year-old Nathan Johnston tried to connect with people during the peak of last year s COVID-19 lockdown, he realised how challenging it could be for people living with a disability to use social media networks like Twitter and Facebook.

The Saco City Council approved sections along Route 1 and in Camp Ellis for a new tax increment finance district that would benefit transit related projects.

SACO The City Council in Saco has approved a plan to shelter new tax revenue derived from increased growth in a new trnsit-related Tax Increment Financing District for the next 30 years.
The vote was 6 to 1, with Councilor Nathan Johnston, who had expressed concern about the size of the new district, dissenting. He said while there are benefits to TIF districts Saco has several there could come a point where the city is challenged with meeting demands on the city’s general fund. ....

A man has been arrested and charged following a significant seizure of methylamphetamine (ICE) yesterday with a street value of around $2 million.
With the opening of the borders, Western and Northern Drug Investigation Services and the Dog Handler Unit conducted a routine joint operation at the Spirit of Tasmania terminal targeting the trafficking of illegal substances.
Approximately 2kgs of the highly addictive drug ICE was located within a vehicle entering the state at the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Devonport.
A 29 year old Melbourne man was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and appeared in the Devonport Magistrates Court yesterday. ....

Roommates, video games, social media, the news all distractions students may face as they adjust to online learning during COVID-19. For some students with learning disabilities like ADHD, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, online learning can be either beneficial or detrimental.
Ryan Kellems, BYU associate professor of counseling psychology and special education, shared some of the pros and cons of learning online for students with ADHD. He said online learning offers students more control over their environment. A controlled learning environment can eliminate the distraction of students watching Netflix or eating crunchy, smelly food during an in-person lecture. ....
