Ann completes 378 days of non-stop walking!

One woman, a pair of comfy walking shoes, a good eye for a shot and the camera on her self-professed crappy phone have done wonders to elevate the image of Drogheda in the past year, showing off its hidden treasures and splendid vistas.
As we go to press, Ann McVeigh is either on Day 12 of 100 days of walking 2021, or Day 378, as she started on January 1st last year, and she shares her varied routes with friends and followers on social media, while getting fresh air and exercise for herself.

I got the idea from Karen Devine, who had completed the 100 days in 2019, so I joined in with Dr Ciara Kelly on Newstalk last year, and have just kept going! ....

Two Tadhgs release four Arts Council tunes

He comes from local music royalty and now songwriter and guitarist Tadhg Leahy has completed four tracks as part of an Arts Council award he received during the summer. He has enlisted the help of another local talented musician - and another Tadgh, this time violinist Tadhg Murphy - to enrich the tunes, which are inspired by icons of Drogheda.
Back in June I was given the Covid-19 Music Response award by the Arts Council of Ireland, and I had been working on a few pieces that I hoped my grandmother Helen (Leahy) would accompany me on, especially one I called The Road, after the Chord Road, where we all grew up and lived in, says Tadhg, whose dad Barry (Baz) is also a well-known and talented guitarist, and uncle Brendan is a renowned drummer. Helen didn t really have the time to learn the pieces in time, so for the craic, I asked Tadhg (Murphy) to join me, and in the end, we recorded a live session at home when we could. ....
