GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. â February 1st marks a lot of different things for the hospitality industry in Michigan.
It s the first day bars and restaurants are allowed to resume indoor dining at 25% capacity since November.
For the owners of GR Noir, February 1st is two special things in one. It marks the start of Black History Month and is also their grand opening. Shatawn and Nadia Brigham have been dreaming about this place for years. The name, GR Noir, actually came to Nadia in a dream. ....

Grand Rapids is welcoming the first Black-owned wine and jazz bar to the city.
GRNoir Wine and Jazz began selling wine through curbside service in December but opened its doors for dine-in for the first time on Monday.
Shatawn and Nadia Brigham wanted their space to be warm and inviting to the public and said they are excited to finally open their doors.
The bar serves a variety of wine from Black and women owned companies as well as small plates and dessert.

New Downtown GR Wine and Jazz Bar Opens Next Week
A new wine and jazz club downtown Grand Rapids has set a grand opening date! GRNoir will open to the public Monday, Feb. 1, the day that the pause on indoor dining ends throughout the state.
Owners Shatawn and Nadia Brigham had planned to open GRNoir at 35 S. Division Ave. early last year. but then, of course, the pandemic happened. Since December, they ve been offering curbside pickup. They ve also begun shipping wine to buyers around the state.

According to a release:
GRNoir’s goal is to create fun and memorable experiences through wine and food, jazz and conversation. It aspires to become a landmark nightspot in downtown Grand Rapids where locals and tourists can discover new wines, taste small plates and grow in appreciation of Black culture through the prism of jazz. Sommelier Shatawn Brigham will guide guests as they learn more about wine, jazz and the people and places who gave birth to them. ....

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. â A new wine and jazz bar in downtown Grand Rapids will hold a slightly-delayed grand opening next week when the statewide ban on indoor dining ends.
GRNoir Wine & Jazz will open for indoor dining Feb. 1, according to a news release Thursday.
Owners Shatawn and Nadia Brigham opened the jazz club in December but focused on curbside delivery of wine and food since coronavirus restrictions did not allow indoor dining.
Shatawn is the only Black sommelier in Grand Rapids and says heâs eager to help customers discover new wines. ....
