FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Soter Vineyards, located in the heart of the great wine growing region of the Willamette Valley, is proud to announce the release of the first vintage of its new Estates Series: the 2018 Soter Vineyards Estates Pinot Noir. 
Since the winery’s beginnings in 1997, founders Tony and Michelle Soter have held unwavering commitments to quality and sustainability at Mineral Springs Ranch, their flagship 240-acre certified biodynamic farm and vineyard. In recent years two new properties have been added to Soter’s holdings in the highly regarded nested appellations of Ribbon Ridge and Eola-Amity Hills. 
The launch of the Estates Series is led by this lovely Pinot noir and will be complemented by both an extended elévage Chardonnay and a “méthod champenoise” Brut sparkling wine debuting in spring of 2022. The Willamette Valley is  renowned for producing world-class pinot noir and chardonnay, and the term “Oregon wine” has become synonymous with pinot. But Portland’s beloved wine region also grows elegant pinot gris, Riesling, and Syrah, among others. Because Oregon has such a diverse array of microclimates, an astounding number of varietals can be grown throughout the state.
Since we’re celebrating the season a little differently this year, let’s drink differently, too, and expand our horizons while supporting our local vintners.

Pinot noir and chardonnay are the main grapes used in Champagne, and the Willamette Valley produces wonderful sparkling wines made using the Champagne method, which involves a second fermentation in the bottle, creating carbonation. Wine Spectator Top 100


This week, Wine Spectator, the nation’s most-read wine publication, released its annual list of what their tasters consider to be the Top 100 wines of the year. These are not wines that were produced in 2020, which – based on the weirdness of this year – will be interesting to watch in the future. Rather, they are the wines that were recently released and reviewed by Wine Spectator’s editors and tasters over the last 11 months.
The top wine, No. 1 on the list, was from Spain: the Bodegas Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2010, a tempranillo-based wine made by an old line Spanish producer. Of the 7,500 cases made, just 680 were destined for these shores. While it currently lists for $130 a bottle, watch as the price will inevitably rise due to its spot at the pinnacle of the most influential wine ranking in America.
