Heavy rain and gusty wind Tuesday is causing flooding in parts of Oregon and southwest Washington.
Computer models show another inch to inch and a half of rain is likely to fall- on top of the nearly inch of rain most valley areas have seen since Tuesday.
KATU meteorologists expect the heavy rain could create street flooding and possible landslides.
A High Wind Watch is also posted for the coast. Tidal flooding at high tide is possible around the middle of the day Wednesday due to the extremely high surf and wind conditions. ....

PACIFIC COUNTY â This weekend could potentially be interesting with a dual-threat of heavy rainfall and strong winds. The timing and extent of just how much of each is on its way remains unclear, but the National Weather Service is giving residents an early heads up.
Current models show the southwest Washington coast being soaked with 2-3 inches of rainfall between 04:00 a.m. Dec. 19 through 10 p.m. Dec. 20. Some Pacific County locations, including the Naselle area and higher elevations, could potentially see upwards of 4-6 inches of rainfall.
The more significant issue presenting itself with the storm is the increased risk of river flooding that is expected to affect the Willapa Hills area, including the Willapa River and down south, the Naselle River. ....

Aphalara itadori will be the first biological control used against Japanese knotweed, as well as the related Bohemian and giant knotweeds.
The deep-rooted knotweed thrives along rivers and streams, crowding out shade trees and plants that provide better nourishment to bugs at the low end of the food chain, leading to less food for fish. Locally, knotweed is a persistent problem along the Naselle River and some other Pacific County waterways.
The large herbaceous perennials are a problem for livestock forage, too.
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service announced in the Federal Register that it has concluded introducing the insects wonât harm wildlife or spread to native plants, confirming preliminary findings. ....
