Khushi Purohit VADODARA: Khushi Purohit, a student of city-based Navrachana School in Sama area has made it to the prestigious National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, country’s premier design college, by bagging All India Rank (AIR) 1 in NID Mains 2021. Head girl of the school Khushi has been an active participant in all school activities and has excelled in them throughout her school life. “Khushi has made us proud today. She has brought glory not only to us but to Vadodara and Gujarat as well. We are very happy but not the least bit surprised. Her creativity and artistic abilities were evident very early in school,” said school principal Suprabha Menon. ....
Vadodara: Fourteen-year-old Rahul Mehta’s (name changed) hands had been trembling for nearly a month. His parents couldn’t diagnose the cause and brought him to paediatrician and adolescent expert Dr Bakulesh Chauhan. After a brief counselling session what Rahul revealed left his parents shocked. The teenager was scared that his parents or grandparents may die of Covid. “He had never heard of or seen death from close quarters. But in the second wave, some of his distant relatives died and that left him scared and confused. The boy felt that what if his parents and grandparents, whom he is very close to, die of Covid,” Chauhan, who counselled the boy, said. ....

Standing at 4 feet 11 inches, Sia Parikh used to feel intimidated and the frequent teasing shook her confidence. But her mother’s words changed her world and now the 16-year-old girl born to Gujarati parents will walk on the famed red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival amid the glitterati on July 12. “Initially, I never felt uneasy about my height but when my schoolmates started growing tall, the teasing started. Vadodara: It was three years ago that he built a machine that would float on water and clean up waste from the surface. Fifteen-year-old Varun Saikia on Sunday won an Outstanding Achievement award in the Initiative for Research and Innovation in STEM (IRIS) National Fair 2021. A student of Navrachana School, Sama, Varun is the only youngster from the state to have won the award funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, given to young innovators for their outstanding projects.
