WASHINGTON, July 21, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Today, 55 national nonprofits sent a letter to President Joe Biden and congressional leadership urging them to recognize and invest in the unique role the nonprofit sector will play in rebuilding the economy, restoring livelihoods and strengthening communities.
The letter highlights how nonprofits met urgent community needs during the height of the pandemic in innovative ways amidst significantly increased demand for services and despite rapidly declining revenue. The letter also highlights how nonprofits continue to support their communities by advancing vaccine awareness and access by setting up clinics, offering transportation and childcare, providing employee incentives and more. ....

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - St. Bernards Healthcare is partnering with Arkansas State University-Newport to help people without a job and dealing with poverty.
A news release from St. Bernards says the partnership looks to increase the workforce by preparing workers in manufacturing, hospitality and allied health industries through the Arkansas Delta Workforce Opportunities for Rural Communities.
Participants in the program will earn $100 a week while going through a free five-week course at ASUN. ....

While nonprofits were included in coronavirus relief legislation, a group of 75 charitable organizations has sent a letter to President Joseph R. Biden and top Congressional leaders, urging them to enact provisions that specifically address their needs.
Within the letter, the group acknowledged the Families First Act, the CARES Act and the COVID relief law contain provisions that help charitable nonprofits.
“However, we note that those Acts often did so by inserting nonprofits into existing or predetermined programs designed for for-profit businesses that face very different challenges,” the signators asserted in their Jan. 22 letter, which was sent to President Biden, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. ....
