Author: Eline de Bruijn, Hannah Davis Published: 2:45 PM CDT July 8, 2021 Updated: 6:39 PM CDT July 8, 2021 DALLAS Health officials in North Texas are urging people to get vaccinated as cases of the delta variant rise locally and as it is the most dominant strain in the country, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The delta variant, first identified in India, is a mutation of the coronavirus with increased transmissibility, according to the CDC.  Dr. Joe Chang, Chief Medical Officer for Parkland Health and Hospital Systems says that the delta variant is quickly becoming a dominant strain in North Dallas.

Worth Wally Wawro, a long-time member of the WFAA family and former audio engineer passed away Thursday morning. He was 70.  Over 35 years, Wally was a pioneer in the field and was instrumental in shaping the WFAA sound.  He helped produce countless new music packages over the years, including jingles for Spirit of Texas, Santa s Helpers and Family First. He also created the first jingle called Hansen Style for a popular Dale Hansen campaign, working on the project with renowned Chicago blues musician Lonnie Brooks.

Griddy: Texas power startup stuck customers with huge energy bills

The startup Griddy is behind many of the enormous energy bills that homeowners in Texas faced after the winter storm.   Griddy had big plans to disrupt Texas s electricity market when it launched in 2017. Now it faces a lawsuit filed by the state AG alleging that it misled customers.  The state grid operator has effectively shut the company down.  Griddy, a startup in Texas, had a simple pitch: Switch to Griddy and save money on your electricity bills. Many Griddy customers were stuck with thousands of dollars worth of energy bills. Some owed more than $15,000 to the Houston firm, The New York Times reported.
