ISLAMABAD: Expressing concern over the government’s decision to increase nearly 40 per cent tax on mobile phone calls exceeding five minutes, opposition Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Sunday called it another U-turn by rulers and asked Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin to reverse the decision. In a statement, PPP secretary general Nayyar Bokhari said this decision of the government to increase tax on the mobile phone calls had caused unrest among the poor and labour class in the country. Mr Bokhari regretted that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government had initially announced imposition of the tax, but the decision had been withdrawn the next day. Now, he said, taking yet another U-turn, the government had once again decided to increase the tax on mobile phone consumers. ....
