Earlier this month, Springfield Mayor Ken McClure told the News-Leader that “a return to mandated masking is not going to solve a problem.” “It s going to keep people, I think, from being vaccinated because they will say I won t have to,” McClure said. “And to me mandated masking had its role and its place, and it was to buy us enough time to get vaccinations available to the population.
