WARRINGTON Town Hall will be bathed in green light this evening, Thursday, as part of global celebrations. The town’s Muslims will join millions across the world in celebrating Eid, marking the end of Ramadan. Residents are being urged to celebrate the Muslim festival of Eid al-Fitr safely and in line with current coronavirus restrictions. This means that people should meet others outdoors in groups of no more than six, or two households, while adhering to social distancing measures. The festival at the end of the fasting month of Ramadan is traditionally marked with communal prayers in mosques, and visits to friends and family. ....

In a post on the Penketh FACT Checker Facebook group, it was claimed Cllr Geoff Fellows (IND – Penketh and Cuerdley) ‘blatantly flouted’ the rules. It added: “Hunting down a stranger to her home to give her some flowers without knowing her name, address or advising of his visit. “This sort of behaviour is not acceptable but there is no formal party to report it to. “This is selfish and irresponsible behaviour in an attempt to electioneer. Local councillors are not above the law.” ....
