Once Open 24/7, Classic Denver Diners Are Still Closing Early

Hungry for a late-night snack? You could be out of luck, unless your refrigerator is stocked. Even as most metro Denver restaurants return to full capacity and their standard hours, there s a notable exception: 24/7 diners. All-night joints took a major hit during the pandemic. Tom s Diner, which was already planning to close in 2020 for a major project on the property at 601 East Colfax Avenue, cut its last hurrah short and never reopened after the March 2020 shutdown; the Denver Diner went dark last November and finally announced in January that it was gone for good.at least from its 740 West Colfax location.

Regatta, Vipers mark 100th anniversary of Gulf Yachting Association by Panama City

Regatta, Vipers mark 100th anniversary of Gulf Yachting Association by Panama City Mike Cazalas, The News Herald © CONTRIBUTED PHOTO The Gulf Yachting Association kicks off its 100th anniversary with this weekend s regatta at St. Andrews Yacht Club. PANAMA CITY This weekend s weather forecast holds a surprise: 10 knot winds with gusts up to 16 knots and an invasion of Vipers in St. Andrew Bay by early Saturday afternoon. The Vipers, all the way from New Zealand, are a relatively new phenomena in the bay, their appearances growing since the Gulf Yachting Association switched to the faster, more-vibrant vessel as the official boat of its annual regatta series.

Panama City Florida site for opening regatta yacht race

And today the GYA marks its 100th anniversary with the 2021 season kickoff of its regatta series being hosted by the St. Andrews Yacht Club on Bunkers Cove Road. It marks the first time in two years for the regatta here, with 2019 being wiped out locally by Hurricane Michael damage and the GYA s entire 2020 season succumbing to the pandemic. It s significant because everything was canceled last year, people were afraid to travel across state lines, worried they couldn t get back home and the virus, and before that we had the hurricane and so much was damaged and destroyed (at the yacht club), said Jimmy Ruthven of Panama City, who is also commodore of the GYA this year. Everybody is trying to get back to our state of normalcy in life and this is a big move in that direction.
