NASSAU, BAHAMAS Staff of Bahamas Wealth Management made a “much-needed” donation of a brand new washer and freezer, along with over $1,000 worth of meat, dry goods and other grocery items to Great Commission Ministries (GCM) recently in what the group referred to as responding to GCM’s call for help during these challenging times. “For over 33 years, Great Commission Ministries has focused on defending the rights of the poor and providing resources for children, ex-convicts and substance abusers,” the group said in a statement. ....

The non-profit, non-government organization operates feeding centers, food banks, orphanages, shelters for homeless persons and drug rehabilitation programs. Now, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take its toll on many Bahamians, Great Commission Ministries has described itself as being “stretched, overwhelmed, and in need of help”, calling on the government and the private sector to assist. While COVID-19 has dealt a blow to people’s pockets the Salvation Army said it also had a challenge rolling out their annual Christmas Kettles, according to the Divisional Commander Major Clarence Ingram. “What we’re having a challenge with is we started (our) Christmas Kettles later because of COVID-19. So normally we would start around the 20th of November. This year we started the 1st of December and the last numberts we had were about $10,000 less than we had last year but you know we’ll see how things go this week.” ....
