The kind that keep the faith alive for their grandchildren when the parents become engrossed with the cares of everyday. The kind of grandmother I had when I grew up. Hearing my mom refer to my grandmother as “Mother,” and her friends refer to her as “May,” her given name, it was my older sister who, as a confused toddler, gave my grandmother the mix of a pet name we grandkids called her ever after.
