Richmond Hill City Council approved a pair of requests from the Richmond Hill-Bryan County Chamber of Commerce Tuesday night in regard to the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival. Without discussion or questions, council first approved the chamber’s request to use J.F. Gregory Park for the event on Oct. 15-17. Next came approval for it to sell beer and wine. The fact the requests were being put before council spells good news for the Richmond Hill community and seafood lovers in the Coastal Empire. The festival (goseafoodfestival.com) has become a staple of the community over the years and it is one of the most popular seafood festivals in the Southeast. ....

The mysterious “Project Falcon” took another step forward earlier this month when Richmond Hill City Council approved the abandonment of portions of city right of way on Thunderbird Drive and Shelby Lane in the Ford Park of Commerce. The abandonment will apparently make room for a 140,000 square foot structure being developed by Atlanta-based TPA Group, LLC. ....

Chamber goes online for annual meeting The usual awards handed out at a Richmond Hill Bryan County Chamber of Commerce annual meeting were postponed, thanks to spikes in COVID-19 numbers that had Chamber leaders deciding it was safer to wait before getting together to announce winners of such honors as Business of the Year. In the meantime, CEO Kathryn Johnson, 2021 Board of Directors Chairman Jon Seagraves and 2021 Chairwoman Paige Glazer met with membership online to talk about the year just past. ....
