Cornwall Council owned car parks to start charging


Charging for council owned car parks is being reintroduced on May 17
All council owned car parks in Cornwall which were free of charge to support high streets as they got back to business will be re-introducing charges from next week.
The council will keep its car parks free until May 17 to support high streets, as businesses such as non-essential shops, hairdressers and outside hospitality reopen. But from then on charges will be reintroduced.
Cornwall Council suspended parking charges at the beginning of lockdown in January to limit the spread of coronavirus and help those working from home find a parking space. ....

Historian Andy Grant explores the life of Peter the Painter Blundell, the well-known local creative who
could often be seen at the side of the A127.
Peter Blundell was an affable, unassuming character who won the acclamation of Havering’s residents, attaining almost local celebrity status.
He was a familiar sight as he walked from the Hall Lane flyover in Upminster to Romford Market. Here he would exhibit his paintings of ships, hanging them on the railings outside the library.
Although many still remember him with affection, he remains an enigma – urban myths abound and rumours still circulate that he was actually very wealthy. Peter was not born into poverty and homelessness; on the contrary, he came from a well-to-do family. ....
