The Manhattan Avenue road closure from Manhattan Beach Boulevard to 12th Street has been discontinued. The road will reopen to 2-way travel later today on Tuesday, Feb. 23. (Jefferson Graham)
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA The City of Manhattan Beach is closing down its recent expansion of the outdoor dining area Downtown on Manhattan Avenue and expects to reopen the avenue from 12th Street to Manhattan Beach Boulevard later today.
Outdoor dining decks, patios and sidewalks in the public right-of-way in North Manhattan Beach and Downtown remain open like they have been since Los Angeles County allowed a return to public outdoor dining a few weeks ago. ....

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. - Los Angeles County s Public Health Department is asking that the city of Manhattan Beach s stop allowing a workaround to the current ban on outdoor dining.
In a letter penned to the city, County Health Officer Dr. Muntu Davis said that the city s decision to repurpose outdoor dining areas as public seating areas violates both the letter and the spirit of the revised temporary targeted safer at home health officer order issued December 9, 2020. ....

LA Falling ICU Bed Capacity Is Scary News for All, Restaurants Included

Intensive care unit bed capacity continues to diminish quickly in Los Angeles County, even as the county continues to reach new daily highs in coronavirus infections. The new one-day case total for Thursday stands at a staggering 12,741, while ICU availability fell to 7.7 percent nearly 50 percent below the threshold set by California’s statewide Department of Public Health that led to the current stay-at-home order and regional shutdown of things like on-site outdoor dining.

Los Angeles Times, LA County is seeing double the number of “daily coronavirus cases than it saw on Nov. 30, and quadruple its daily coronavirus cases since mid-November. Cumulatively, L.A. County has tallied 488,519 coronavirus cases and 8,151 COVID-19 deaths.” ....
