Teenagers celebrate receiving offers for dream jobs after completing internships at Swindon's Platform Project


TWO Swindon teenagers celebrated receiving offers for their dream jobs after finishing The Platform Project s internship scheme.
Charlotte Hinds now works in the hospitality sector for PGL and Daniella Page started work at First City Nursing Services in Swindon.
The 18-year-olds highlighted their experience at The Platform Project in Dorcan during their job interviews, which included working on projects relating to online publishing, project management and self-employment.
After dropping out of college, Charlotte, knew that it was not for her and that she didn’t want to be stuck in a dead-end job, but she was getting no response to applications for dozens of jobs - then she saw details of The Platform Project on social media and signed up. ....

Coronavirus grant helps young people get back on pathway to work and training

A SOCIAL enterprise group helping young people on the margins of education and training become more employable has been boosted by a coronavirus fund grant.
The Platform Project in Swindon has been awarded £13,300 from Wiltshire Community Foundation’s Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund to help with salary costs. The fund has distributed more than £1.1m through more than 260 grants.
Sadie Sharp, the project’s managing director, said the number of 18 to 24-year-olds out of work since the pandemic has tripled, which prompted it to evolve the way it works with those who are referred by organisations including schools, social services and other youth charities. ....
