The assault occurred in a Paihia bar while the officer was off duty. Kevin Lloyd, 27, appeared in the Kaikohe District Court on April 20 charged with assault with intent to injure. According to court documents the man he assaulted was Roderick Whiu - better known as Far North Area Commander Inspector Riki Whiu. ....
Incredible spirals of water have ascended into the sky from the ocean during a storm off the New South Wales coast. The amazing water spouts were seen off the coast at Taree, Harrington and Old Bar as storms hit the Mid North coast of NSW on Tuesday afternoon. The waterspouts are formed when cool air travels over warm water such as the ocean, which allows vigorous drafts to form which then tighten up into a spinning column. A NSW Surf Life Saving drone has found a man who went missing in bushland on the Mid North Coast. The man had been missing for two days, and police had serious concerns for his safety, when the search started last Thursday near Kooloonbung Creek. The nature reserve surrounding the creek is a dense, 52-hectare park, in the centre of Port Macquarie. Port Macquarie Lifeguard Supervisor James Turnham began an aerial search at 1pm over water and bushland. Just after 2pm that day, and with the low battery signal sounding, James saw a small blue object in the trees. He launched the drone again and was able to tell rescuers where to go. ....
