MPs have criticised huge development schemes included in Maidstone Borough Council’s (MBC) draft plan for the future of the borough.
In a submission to the council, Tracey Crouch, MP for Chatham and Aylesford, described a plan for 2,000 homes in the parish of Boxley and Bredhurst, known as Lidsing, as “environmentally damaging”, “ill conceived” and “completely unsuitable”.

Conservatives from Sheppey and Sittingbourne are demanding Swale council s Local Plan consultation is extended and have written to Secretary of State Robert Jenrick asking for a review.
Cllr Alan Horton (Hartlip, Newington and Upchurch), a former police chief and leader of Swale council s Conservative Group, said: “This is the biggest, most important consultation the council carries out. To rush it through in the way the coalition administration is doing is simply wrong.
